Frequently Asked Questions

You may use your Medical Aid Scheme to cover SLT services provided by Project Communicate Speech-Language Therapy (PCSLT) if your scheme includes SLT as a benefit. We encourage you to confirm the benefits available on your plan directly with your scheme.

PCSLT is a registered provider with Discovery, GEMS and Momentum. We are also registered with MedScheme, which administers a number of medical schemes including Bonitas, Polmed, Fedhealth and Bankmed. PCSLT is recognised on these provider networks for claim submissions.

If your Medical Aid Scheme does not offer SLT as a benefit, services will need to be paid for privately via cash. Please see the answer under our second question on the "Frequently Asked Questions" page on our website for information on cash payments.

Where SLT is covered as a benefit, PCSLT will submit claims to your Medical Aid Scheme on your behalf as a courtesy. Please note that you remain responsible for your account, and any shortfalls or unpaid amounts will need to be settled directly with PCSLT.

If you choose to finance services via Medical Aid, billing will follow the Medical Aid tariff rates applicable to your scheme.

PCSLT currently accepts Medical Aid Schemes and cash payments.

Cash Payments

You may use cash payments to finance SLT services rendered by PCSLT.

EFT payments are accepted at PCSLT and can be made using the following Banking Details:

• Bank: FNB
• Branch Code: 260225
• Account Number: 62034259433
• Reference: As indicated on your invoice (Alternatively you may use: PCSLT Client’s Initials & Surname)

Payment to PCSLT is to be made on the day of the session, or at the very latest, within 30 days from that date services were rendered. Proof of payment must be emailed to projectcommunicateslt@gmail.com 

Kindly note that PCSLT is a cashless practice i.e. PCSLT does not accept exchange of physical currency as a payment method.

The PCSLT cash payment rates can be found within our client contract which can be downloaded on the "Downloads" page on our website. Please note the PCSLT keeps cash payment rates below Medical Aid Scheme Tariffs.

Before therapy begins, an initial assessment will be completed. This allows PCSLT to establish your/your child’s current abilities and to develop an appropriate therapy plan.

Therapy sessions can be scheduled in two durations, depending on the client’s needs:

• 31–45 minutes: 30 minutes face-to-face + 15 minutes for feedback, handover and administrative tasks
• 46–60 minutes: 45 minutes face-to-face + 15 minutes for feedback, handover and administrative tasks

The final 15 minutes of each session are important for discussing progress, explaining home programmes, providing feedback, and completing necessary administration. Consistent practice and carryover into the home environment are key to supporting communication and/or feeding and swallowing progress.

If you have specific questions or concerns that you would like to address, please let us know at the beginning of the session so that time can be planned accordingly. If additional time is required beyond the scheduled session, a separate consultation (in-person or telephonically) can be arranged and billed.

PCSLT is able to offer Teletherapy services depending on the individual needs of each of our clients. Suitability of Teletherapy services in relation to each individual client must be considered. 

PCSLT is able to offer Home Visits depending on the individual needs of each of our clients where feasible. Suitability of Home Visit services in relation to each individual client must be considered. 

We understand that delays can happen. If you are late, we’ll use the remainder of the session as effectively as possible. To respect other clients’ appointments, sessions still end at the allocated time.

We recognise that life can be unpredictable. Should you need to cancel an SLT session, we kindly ask for 48 hours’ notice. Please contact PCSLT on 068 294 7650. If notice is not provided in time, a 50% cancellation fee will be charged to your personal account.
