The speech bubble in our logo symbolizes communication. Communication is said to be the very essence of human life. Difficulties in communication impacts negatively on the quality of life that we lead.
Did you notice that the speech bubble in our logo also looks a lot like the brain? The reason for that is communication begins & ends in the brain. It also serves to signify the aspect of cognition in relation to communication.
Another important function that the brain directs is feeding/swallowing. The brain in the logo further tries to highlight the feeding/swallowing area of the Speech-Language Therapists' scope of practice.
FYI: We believe that Speech-Language Therapists should actually be called Communication & Feeding/Swallowing Therapists, because we are trained to assist & improve the functioning of an individual in both areas: communication & feeding/swallowing.
